I got this from Daily Kos:
In an interview with The Associated Press, John Bolton, undersecretary of state for arms control, said that whether Saddam's regime actually possessed weapons of mass destruction "isn't really the issue.".
If you want to find out what has been the issue all along, just read some of the Bush Administration WMD Statements.
Now that we have to go back to the UN to ask other countries to help pay for rebuilding Iraq, we are changing our tune - a little. Yes, we need the UN. Yes, we welcome international help. Yes, give us money. Yes, give us troops. But WE are in charge.
The French and the Germans are making almost-friendly remarks. They are going to show us what "nice guys" they are by helping us gain a UN resolution. But what will happen afterward? Will they send troops? Will they send money? Maybe tokens. After the arrogant way we treated them, why should they help?
The only way to get other countries on board is to first apologize to them and then give them a stake in reconstruction. Transfer some of Halliburton's contracts to French, German and Russian companies. Do you see this happening? NO. Who do you think will be stuck with the bill? Fellow Americans, you and me.
