"Liar," The Attack Slogan of Liars

Since retired 4-star General Wesley Clark joined the race for president of the U.S., he has been attacked by Republicans. What is the nature of the attack? He is a liar. The same people that lied to get 69% of Americans to believe that Iraq had a hand in the 9-11 attacks are now trying more lying to discredit Wesley Clark.

As Joshua M. Marshall says in today's Opnion section of the L.A. Tmes, the word has been put out by Republican Governor Bill Owens and his friend Marc Holtzman that Clark had decided to become a Democrat because he was rebuffed as a Republican. They quoted Clark as saying:

"I would have been a Republican if Karl Rove had returned my phone calls."

Clark said he made this remark as a joke. A White House audit of Karl Rove's phone logs indicated that Clark never called, substantiating Clark's position.

Did this stop the Republicans? No. They are continuing the attacks. As liars they have seen how effective lies can be. They plan to lie, lie, lie in order to discredit the one Democratic candidate that can talk turkey about security.

The Republicans are scared of Clark. So the liars are painting him as a liar.
