A Letter to Governor Schwarzenegger

Dear Governor:

Now that you have managed to use your fame to make Californians swoon, and your big business connections to wrestle the governorship out of a duly elected governor, what are you going to do next?

You say you will not tolerate "business as usual." What does this mean? You will no longer do the bidding of big business? You will not seek tax cuts for the rich and reduce services for the poor? You will not associate with the likes of Ken Lay of Enron?

By the way, governor, what is the true story about Ken Lay? You can tell us now that you have accomplihsed your goal of becoming governor. Is it true that on May 17, 2001 you attended a meeting convened by Ken Lay of Enron at the Peninsula Hotel in Beverly Hills? Is it true that then-Mayor Richard Riordan and junk-bond king Michael Milken were there? Did the crook Ken Lay present a "Comprehensive Solution for California" that sought further deregulation?

Tell the people of California. You said before that you did not remember that meeting. Maybe you can remember now. It could be that what happened there helped you become governor. Try to remember. Specifically, I'd like to know whether you plan to implement the "Comprehensive Solution for California"?

You can't blame me. I don't want to be fleeced further by the thieving energy companies.

You say you are going to ask President Bush for help. Does this mean you will get back for Californians the money stolen from them by Ken Lay and the other criminal energy companies? Davis couldn't do it because he was a Democrat. But surely you can since you are a Republican.

I am waiting to hear, governor. Are you going to build a terrific environment for business, legal or illegal, or are you going to help the average Joe?

An inquisitive California citizen,
Paul Siegel
