Learning Fountains are on Top
by Paul "the soaring" Siegel

I wanted to find out if Learning Fountains are truly superior to other types of websites and whether this superiority affects their popularity. To this end I looked at 2 things:

The 10 most favored activities in increasing order are:

10. Online shopping
9. Playing games
8. Making money
7. Socializing
6. Traveling
5. Downloading software
4. Learning something new
3. Managing your career
2. Reading news and sports
1. Searching

The first 6 activities are learning activities. Of the others, choice 8, Making money, requires considerable learning; and choice 10, Online shopping calls for learning in order to make a good purchase choice. Choices 7 and 9 don't seem to have much to do with learning; but even here, both socializing and playing games are mental activities.

Based on this list, the vast majority of people get on the Net to do some sort of learning.

Web100 has a very impressive list of websites. When I visited the site the website voted to be Number 1 was Senior.Com. This came as a big surprise to me, because when the Internet became popular a few short years ago, it was frequented mostly by the young.

But Senior.Com truly deserves top billing. It's a better Learning Fountain then most of those I have showcased. It's fast, easy to navigate, focused, and thorough. It has information as well as chat rooms about practically anything a senior citizen would be interested in. It covers money, investment, life style, news, health, travel, science and technology, recreation activities - and more.

Visit Senior.Com and discover why it's on top.

Moral of the story: If you want your website to be popular, make it an excellent Learning Fountain.
